⛪Alto Vista Chapel

Originally established in 1750 by Spanish missionary Domingo Antonio Silvestre, Alto Vista Chapel stands on the site of Aruba’s first Catholic church. The current bright yellow chapel, rebuilt in 1952, is reached by a peaceful winding road lined with white crosses representing the Stations of the Cross. Surrounded by quiet countryside and panoramic views, it remains a place of reflection, history, and spiritual significance for both locals and visitors.

👉 Tip for Visitors: Walk the Stations of the Cross, the white crosses lining the road create a peaceful and scenic path. Visiting early morning or near sunset offers softer light and a quieter atmosphere. Weekly services are held at the chapel by priests from Noord; guests interested in attending should check current schedules online or locally before visiting, as times may vary.

🌵Arikok National Park

Discover a different side of Aruba at Arikok National Park, where rugged desert landscapes meet dramatic coastlines and rich cultural history. Covering nearly 20% of the island, the park offers scenic trails, ancient caves, and breathtaking natural wonders like the Natural Pool. Ideal for guests seeking adventure, nature, and unforgettable island views beyond the resort areas.

👉 Tip for Visitors: Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and sturdy shoes, and plan to explore early in the day to avoid the heat. The park’s Visitor Center provides maps and helpful information to guide your experience.

🪨Bushiribana Goldmine Ruins

The Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins are the remains of a historic nineteenth-century gold mill, once used to process ore during Aruba’s gold rush. Set along the island’s rugged north coast, the dramatic stone structure overlooks sweeping ocean views and offers a striking contrast to Aruba’s white-sand beaches. Located between Wairiruri Beach and Andicuri Beach, the ruins stand today as a reminder of Aruba’s industrial past and remain a popular stop for scenic photos and coastal exploration.

👉 Tip for Visitors: Best reached by Jeep, 4x4 vehicle, ATV, or UTV due to the rugged terrain. A small snack cart is often nearby, making it a convenient place to grab a drink or a quick bite while exploring.

🦋 Butterfly Farm

Aruba’s Butterfly Farm offers an unforgettable encounter with nature, set within a lush tropical garden filled with colorful butterflies from around the world. Guests can walk among these delicate creatures while learning about their fascinating life cycle, from chrysalis to first flight. Early visits often provide the special opportunity to witness newly emerged butterflies taking flight for the very first time. Conveniently located in the Palm Beach area, across from the Aruba Divi Phoenix, it’s a peaceful and family-friendly stop close to the resort district.

👉 Tip for Visitors: Arriving early in the morning offers a quieter experience and the best chance to see butterflies emerging from their chrysalises.  Guided tours are included with admission and provide interesting insight into the butterfly life cycle.

🗼California Lighthouse

Designed by a French architect in 1910 and constructed between 1914 and 1916, the California Lighthouse is named after the wooden steamship S.S. California, which sank just offshore. Surrounded by sand dunes and rugged, stone-filled landscapes, the lighthouse offers some of the most breathtaking panoramic views on the island. Nearby, Faro Blanco Italian Restaurant provides a beautiful setting for sunset dining, making this area a favorite stop for both sightseeing and evening experiences.

👉 Tip for Visitors: There is a small entrance fee to climb the spiral staircase, and the reward is one of the best 360° views on the island. It's best to visit in the late afternoon or just before sunset for cooler weather and golden-hour views.

🎨 Cosecha Store & Creative Learning Center

Located in the heart of San Nicolas, Cosecha showcases locally made art, jewelry, ceramics, and handcrafted goods created by Aruban artisans. Each piece carries the Seyo Nacional pa Artesania, the island’s official seal of craftsmanship established by Aruba’s Department of Culture. Guests can browse unique souvenirs that truly reflect Aruba’s creative spirit, and throughout the year, hands-on workshops offer an opportunity to experience traditional art forms alongside local makers.

🫏Donkey Sanctuary

The Donkey Sanctuary Aruba is a heartwarming stop where guests can meet, feed, and gently interact with rescued donkeys in a peaceful countryside setting. Founded in 1997 as a non-profit organization, the sanctuary is entirely volunteer-run and dedicated to protecting Aruba’s donkeys. Children especially love the experience, and visitors are welcome to bring apples or carrots to feed them.  A small concession stand and gift shop are available on site, and early visitors may even have the opportunity to assist with light daily chores alongside the volunteers.

👉 Tip for Visitors: There is no admission fee, though donations are greatly appreciated to support the sanctuary’s care and feeding program. Visit earlier in the day when the donkeys are more active and temperatures are cooler. Bringing apples or carrots is encouraged — they’re safe treats the donkeys love.

🕊️ Lourdes Grotto

In 1958 — commemorating the reported appearance of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes, France a local Catholic priest and parishioners placed a statue of Mary inside a natural limestone cave along Seroe Preto (Black Hill). The grotto, built directly into the rocks, reflects Aruba’s deep Catholic heritage and remains an important place of quiet reflection for locals and visitors alike.

Today, the Lourdes Grotto is a serene roadside shrine that you can stop to on the way to San Nicolas, known for its peaceful atmosphere and iconic statue, which weighs nearly 700 kilos. Each year on February 11, a traditional procession travels from St. Theresita Church to the grotto for a special mass honoring Our Lady of Lourdes.

Visitors often pause here briefly to admire the natural rock setting, take photos, and experience a quieter, more spiritual side of Aruba beyond the beaches.

🌊Natural Bridge

For thousands of years, pounding waves and strong trade winds shaped the limestone cliffs along Aruba’s north coast, forming several natural bridges. The island’s most famous Natural Bridge sadly collapsed in 2005, but its remains continue to draw visitors curious to see this powerful example of nature’s force. Nearby, the smaller formation often called the Baby Bridge remains intact and can still be seen and photographed.

👉 Tip for Visitors: Expect strong winds and uneven, rocky terrain, so comfortable walking shoes. Stay on marked paths and enjoy the views from a safe distance.  A nearby replica cunucu house features a small souvenir shop and snack bar where guests can grab refreshments.

🐦 Ostrich Farm

Located in Paradera, the Aruba Ostrich Farm offers a fun and educational activity for guests of all ages. Guided tours run throughout the day, where you’ll learn fascinating facts about ostriches, from their incredible speed to their mating, feeding, and defense behaviors.

Guests can get up close to these impressive birds and even have the opportunity to feed them during the tour. The Savanna Bar & Restaurant is located on-site, making it a great stop to relax and enjoy a meal or drink after your visit.

👉 Tip for Visitors: Bring water and sunscreen as much of the tour is outdoors. Its recommended to wear closed toe shoes for walking around the farm.

🐾 Pet Cemetery

Located just beyond Baby Beach along Aruba’s southeastern shoreline, this unique pet cemetery rests among the sand dunes near Seroe Colorado. Driftwood crosses and handmade markers honor beloved island pets, many featuring heartfelt epitaphs that invite visitors to pause and reflect. Often discovered during the scenic drive toward the island’s southern tip, it’s a peaceful and unexpected stop that reveals a more personal side of Aruba’s history.

👉 Insider Tip: This quiet coastal spot is best visited during daylight hours and combined with a stop at Baby Beach or Rodgers Beach. Parking is informal, so look for the sandy roadside pull-off before walking a short distance toward the ocean.

⚓ Seaman's Anchor

Positioned at the southeastern point of Seroe Colorado, the bright red Seaman’s Anchor is one of Aruba’s most recognizable roadside landmarks. Originally dedicated in 1985 as a memorial to seafarers who lost their lives at sea, the anchor stands as a symbol of Aruba’s maritime history and connection to San Nicolas.

Today, it’s a popular stop for photos, especially on the scenic drive toward Baby Beach and Rodgers Beach. With sweeping ocean views and open coastal landscapes, it’s the perfect quick stop to capture a different side of Aruba beyond the resort areas.
