The chapel was built in 1952 on the site of the original, and first, Catholic church built in Aruba in 1750 by a Spanish missionary, Domingo Antonio Silvestre. The bright yellow chapel is reached by a winding road lined with white crosses marking the stations of the cross. It is a special place for peace and contemplation, surrounded by the Aruban countryside. Services are held weekly at the chapel by priests from Noord.
The Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins are the remnants of a long-abandoned gold mill that processed gold ore during the Aruban gold rush in the nineteenth century. Location The ruins are located between Wairiruri beach and Andicuri beach. Best accessed by Jeep, 4 wheel drive, ATV or UTV.
Aruba's Butterfly Farm is an unforgettable encounter with nature in all its beauty and diversity. Step into a tropical garden teeming with butterflies and observe their fascinating life cycle. If you arrive early in the day you may be able to witness new butterflies emerging from their chrysalis and taking their first flight. The Butterfly Farm is located in the Palm Beach area, across from the Aruba Divi Phoenix.
The stone lighthouse was designed by a French architect in 1910 and constructed between 1914 and 1916. It's named after the S.S. California, a wooden sailing ship that sank near shore. Around the lighthouse are acres of stoned-filled flat land and sand dunes. The panoramic views of the island are just spectacular. Faro Blanco Italian Restaurant is nestled near the lighthouse and has some of the best sunsets on the island.
The kids will love the Donkey Sanctuary where you can feed and pet the donkeys. They especially love apples and carrots, so feel free to bring some along. This sanctuary was founded in 1997 as a non-profit and is completely run by volunteers. There is no admission fee, though a donations is greatly appreciated. If you go early enough in the day you can help with the daily chores if you would like. There is a concession stand and a gift shop.
For thousands of years, pounding waves and strong winds slowly chiseled away at the limestone cliffs along Aruba’s north coast to create several natural bridges. The famous Natural Bridge between the Bushiribana gold mine ruins and Andicuri Beach unfortunately collapsed in 2005. The remains of this bridge are still a tourist attraction and the Baby Bridge is still intact and meriting a visit. The views are a must see on the eastern side of the island, with strong waves and wind. There is also a souvenir shop and snack bar with refreshments in a replica cunucu house.
There are guided tours every 30mins where you will learn interesting facts about the ostrich’s amazing speed as well as mating, rearing, feeding habits and defense mechanisms it uses against predators. You will even have the opportunity to feed them. The Savana Bar & Restaurant is on-site.
